Deep Listening with Grace Woodard
Overview
Deep Listening® at Pocketbook Hudson is an exploration of sonic awareness as a pathway to receptivity, reflection, and collective care. The workshop offers embodied mindfulness and collaborative creativity, honoring the building’s history while nurturing the intelligence of those within it. Each session is an improvisation with place and moment, cultivating the ability to hear both the world around us and what resonates within.
Rooted in the work of queer Latinx composer Pauline Oliveros, Deep Listening explores sound, movement, and dreams through “sonic meditations”,text-based prompts that encourage listening and creative expression. Oliveros urged people to “listen to everything all the time,” a practice that continues to shape this lineage.
