Talk 1 | An Introduction to Machine Learning and How to Teach Machines to See

In this theoretical track, you’ll be introduced to deep learning as an important technique in computer vision and how convolutional neural networks can be used to solve image classification problems. We’ll explore the fundamental technical concepts, which will then help understand how they can be applied to the real world.

Bio: German Hoffman, Machine Learning Engineer at Tryolabs. German has 10 years of experience in building complex machine learning systems using state-of-the-art techniques in the fields of computer vision and NLP and predictive analytics.

Talk 2 | Enormous worker hour savings using CNNs

In this talk, we'll consider how computer vision and image classification are used at TheRealReal to solve business problems at scale. We'll focus on applying image classification to the problem of product copywriting automation.

Bio: Matthew Reed, Ph.D., Senior Data Scientist at TheRealReal. Matthew has a background in machine learning and applied math, with 5 years of experience using computer vision and deep learning to solve problems in the industry.
