The prospect of suing or being sued for patent infringement can be daunting, particularly for those without prior experience with infringement suits. Like other forms of business litigation, patent infringement lawsuits are often complex undertakings with many moving parts. Patent cases may be particularly challenging because they often involve intricate technology, entail unique litigation procedures, and raise difficult legal issues. The ACC Georgia Chapter welcomes Fish & Richardson P.C. whose attorneys, Noah Graubart, Aamir Kazi and Dexter Whitley, will present “Patent Litigation: What Non-IP In-House Counsel Need to Know”. Our speakers will discuss how patent infringement litigation works and what a patent lawsuit might mean for your business.

Specifically, we plan to address:

• Basic patent law concepts

• The life cycle of a patent infringement case

• Some strategic and tactical considerations for patent owners and accused infringers

• How patent litigation has adapted to the COVID-19 era

Noah Graubart is a co-founder of Fish’s Atlanta office, who leads complex patent litigation and other intellectual property cases for some of the world’s most prominent technology companies. Noah regularly represents clients in U.S. District Courts across the country, at the U.S. International Trade Commission, in the U.S. Courts of Appeals, including at the Federal Circuit.

Noah’s practice includes experience with a diverse range of high technology litigation, including cases involving smartphone software, audio and video processing, telecommunications solutions, wireless networking, optical networking, computer hardware interfaces, and semiconductor fabrication methods.

Aamir Kazi is a principal in the Atlanta office of Fish & Richardson P.C., and a member of the firm’s intellectual property litigation practice. He specializes in intellectual property litigation and counseling with an emphasis on patent litigation. Mr. Kazi has experience litigating in U.S. district courts around the country and the U.S. International Trade Commission, and also has experience managing complex global litigation. He has substantial experience in all major aspects of litigation from pre-suit diligence through trial and post-trial, and also counsels clients regularly on IP diligence. Today, Mr. Kazi’s practice focuses on issues with standard essential patents and Section 337 investigations.

Dexter Whitley, Ph.D., is an associate in the Atlanta office of Fish & Richardson P.C. He has experience in multiple stages of litigation, and his practice focuses primarily on patent litigation.

Attendance is limited to 18 guests. ACC membership is open to attorneys who practice law as in-house counsel employees of organizations and who do not hold themselves out to the public for the practice of law.

Thanks to Fish & Richardson, the CLE lunch program is complimentary for the first 18 ACC members who register on-line. Thereafter, ACC Georgia will maintain a waiting list for others who wish to attend in case of cancellations. A CLE credit of one (1) hour is being applied for, and if approved, will be submitted to the Georgia State Bar for attendees licensed to practice in Georgia.
