Educators are invited to join NOAA Ocean Exploration's Education Team in a live, online professional learning event. Learn more about the wonder of cold seeps – what they are, how they form, and the incredible chemosynthetic communities they support! Bring your questions for the opportunity to have them answered live, by a cold seep expert that has explored and studied these unique communities all over the world. After the interview, we’ll briefly explore online resources that are available for you to bring cold seeps alive in your classroom. This event is focused on grades 6-12, but all are welcome to attend!

The 90-minute, online event will include:

A brief video introduction to the geology and biology of cold seeps
A live, interactive Q&A session with a cold seep Melissa Betters
A guided tour of the free, online educational resources available from NOAA Ocean Exploration and the Deep Ocean Education Project

This NOAA Ocean Exploration professional learning event for educators is offered in partnership with the University of Rhode Island Graduate School of Oceanography's Inner Space Center through the Ocean Exploration Cooperative Institute (OECI) and the National Marine Sanctuary Foundation.
