When will my 1:1 Somatic Experiencing (SE) sessions take place?

Accepted Answer

It is each participants' responsibility to schedule weekly SE sessions with Heart Space Center Founder, D'Arcy Valverde, using The Heart Space Center's online booking system (https://www.theheartspacecenter.org/book-online-3). Participants will begin 1:1 SE sessions before the first Breathwork.

Is Somatic Breathwork Safe?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Somatic Breathwork is safe and can be done 1:1, in group practice, and on your own. Somatic Breathwork is simply breathing with intention. Contraindications for the Somatic Breathwork offered in this deep dive are listed within the FAQs under "Are there contraindications for these practices?"

Simply put it's conscious breathing. A variety of somatic breathing techniques exist; each accessing the nervous system & body's ability to repair & heal. Somatic Breathwork can be transformative; allowing  the body to release tension, stress, emotions & trauma that may stuck in the physical body.

It can allow the body to release stuck tension, stress, emotions & trauma. It can aid with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma release, increased energy, chronic pain, immune function, insomnia, connection to intuition & creativity & the experience of altered state of consciousness.

It is a body-oriented therapeutic model used in a variety of professions including coaching, teaching, psychotherapy, medicine, physical therapy, and more. It helps to heal trauma and stress disorders through a rewiring of the nervous system.

The Practitioner & Client safely explore Client's body sensation as it guides the session, incorporating gentle practices to release tension & stress related to trauma. Through SE 
 physiology of trauma & stress are addressed by working with bodily sensation, sound, smell, gentle movement, & more.

A Somatic Experiencing Practitioner helps individuals safely release emotions and energies being held in their body. It’s practiced using various mind-body techniques from slowing down and connecting with bodily sensation, incorporating slow, gentle movement, sounds, breath, visualization, and more.

Are there contraindications for these practices?

Accepted Answer

Breathwork contraindications are: pregnancy, high blood pressure (not treated w/medication), diagnosis of bipolar, schizophrenia or history of psychiatric hospitalization, & epilepsy. Also, if you experience cardiovascular and/or brain/neurological conditions, please consult with your doctor.
