Multiple Dates
Decentralized Networks in a Time of Black Insurgency (TWO DAY EVENT)
Event Information
About this Event
Background on AdAstra Collective:
AdAstra Collective is comprised of movement building practitioners with expertise in leadership development, resource mobilization, and narrative intervention. We are a practice based collective that grew out of the organization Movement NetLab. Our vision is to transform power through networked movement building for a just, democratic, and liberating world.
Purpose:
In this TWO DAY online workshop we will examine frameworks from the Black radical tradition in order to seed a fervor and transform power for collective Black liberation. We will give context for this workshop through a review of movement moments of conflict and crisis that have impacted Black people through out the diaspora. This context will allow for us to study how networks of our relationships through forms of organization build cultural, political, and economic power in our communities. Secondly, through a network lens we will explore distinctions between reform and abolition. Our intention is to demystify decentralized organizing and offer its purpose in building momentum in movements.
Objectives:
Participants will:
- identify the habits and behaviors that perpetuate white supremacy culture (racism, patriarchy, and capitalism) in order to liberate ourselves from an abusive relationship to anti-black racism in our networks and systems.
- understand what it takes to build cultural, political, and economic power through decentralized networks in social movements and be inspired ;-).
Please complete this survey before completing your ticket. It is required for you to gain access to the online workshop for either July or September dates.
Come with an open mind , assessing your assumptions, and being in a collective future oriented space of learning and practice. We are co-creating a pedagogy of liberation through "Decentralized Organizing in a time of Black Insurgency".
