About this event

Venue

Infoblox has been kind enough to let us use their office space on the weekend to host DEATHCon. This is super sweet, and we appreciate it! Because we're saving money on space rental during the day, we can afford a really cool party at the Art Museum on Saturday night.

Workshops

DEATHCon sites have exactly the same workshops that are available online. The difference is that you get to complete the workshops together with friends, and meet some of the workshop leaders in person. We'll have a main schedule of workshops and also a side room where attendees can meet to go through other workshops together.

Food

We'll have lunch catered both days by Table47, and our caterer will have great food available for any dietary restrictions if you let us know in advance what you need. On Saturday night, will have a dinner, special cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages, also accommodating dietary needs. See the FAQ for menu details

Frequently asked questions

Where should I park?

There is free parking at the Tacoma Dome station ( 641 E 25th St, Tacoma, WA 98421) and the light rail T-line will get you to the Infoblox office in about 11 minutes. There are also some paid parking lots nearby and limited street parking.

What's a good hotel nearby?

The Marriott Downtown Tacoma and Courtyard by Marriott Downtown are close to the Infoblox office and very close to the party venue at Tacoma Art Museum. A slightly cheaper alternative is Hotel Murano, which is also nearby.

What time is the party?

Saturday night, 6pm at the Tacoma Art Museum. We will have appetizers and cocktails from 6-7:30 and some art galleries will be open for our private viewing (closed to the public). At 7:30pm, we will start dinner service, and the party wraps up at 11pm.

May I bring a guest to the party?

We've planned for 50 people (same as the number of tickets for the event) but sometimes people let us know they won't attend the party, so we'd be happy to fill in those slots with guests. In other words, just ask Randy and we'll see!

What if I don't want to come to the party?

You should feel no pressure, but the party is a fun time to get to know people and enjoy some beautiful art and delicious food. If you don't want to come, let Randy know and we'll see if some guests want to join instead. We've already booked the space and the food for 50 people.

What kind of workshops can I expect?

Please see the current line-up at https://deathcon.io/workshops.html -- we will vote ahead of time to decide which workshops people are most interested in, and we'll do those together. You will still have access to all the workshops afterward, through the end of December.

Can I get CPE Credits?

OK, I have to be honest here - I hate the whole cyber certification money-sucking scheme. However, if you are stuck on that hamster wheel and need credits, let me know how to register at the certification body you need and we'll do it for ya.

Organized by

We are threat hunters and detection engineers who also happen to organize workshops into an event. We do this because we love it, not to make money or promote any corporations. We don't sell (or give away) participants' names to companies for marketing or any other reason. We do not accept corporate sponsorship. If you want to support the event, please buy a ticket for someone who couldn't afford it, or offer the use of your office space to host an event for the weekend!
