These two workshops Cover:

Data storytelling using student data:
In today's educational landscape, schools collect vast amounts of student data, yet many struggle to harness its full potential. This workshop will equip staff with essential skills to identify meaningful patterns in student data and transform these insights into targeted pedagogical shifts. Participants will learn to look beyond raw numbers, identifying data stories that reveal both challenges and successes within their school context. The workshop challenges common misconceptions about data use, moving participants beyond superficial understanding towards reflective practice. Rather than being merely 'data-driven', staff will develop skills to become 'data-informed', combining numerical insights with professional judgement. Through practical examples, participants will gain confidence in visualising data, interpreting key metrics, and most importantly, connecting these insights to classroom practice. The ultimate goal is to create a school culture where data storytelling leads to meaningful impact on teaching and learning, ensuring that valuable student information doesn't simply exist in spreadsheets but actively shapes educational outcomes

Building a Culture of Evidence-Informed Decision Making:
In Australian education, many schools struggle with creating environments where evidence is openly shared and discussed. This workshop explores the journey towards data democratisation—moving from leadership teams holding exclusive access to information, to creating school cultures where all staff can responsibly access and interpret relevant data when needed. Participants will examine how leadership approaches to transparency significantly influence teachers' willingness to share and discuss their own classroom results with colleagues. The session focuses on practical strategies to build a culture where collaborative teams begin planning cycles with evidence, enabling truly responsive teaching. Participants will learn approaches to model transparency, allocate appropriate time for data analysis, and build teacher confidence in selecting and interpreting useful evidence. Through examining the three pillars of effective data use— data literacy, data visualisation, and data storytelling—school leaders will develop techniques to support staff who may not consider themselves "numbers people." By the end of this workshop, leaders will have actionable strategies to empower their teams to openly discuss both challenges and successes revealed through data, ultimately creating learning communities where evidence-informed decisions positively impact student outcomes.
