Is DAT for you?: Practitioners, researchers, students, alumni, and faculty with an interest in analytics and data science are all welcome to attend the monthly Data Analytics Talks. The DAT will be at the intersection of data science and various business domains, e.g., marketing, entrepreneurship, information systems, finance, accounting, healthcare, operations, etc.

Talk Title: Financial engineering and Data Analytics in Investment Management

Talk Abstract: This will be an interactive Q/A presentation. Topics covered:

  • Investment Management and its role in society
  • Careers in Quantitative Finance and required skills
  • Quantitative techniques and data analysis methods used in Quantitative Finance and Investment Management

Speaker Bio: Emre Erdogan is the Managing Director of the CSIM Multi-Asset Quantitative Solutions Team. He leads the team and is responsible for designing and implementing asset allocation models for Schwab’s multi-asset strategies. His role includes researching strategic asset allocation, maintaining and enhancing glide paths for Schwab’s target date funds, and strengthening portfolio construction and risk management capabilities.

Prior to joining CSIM in 2011, Mr. Erdogan was a quantitative developer in the research & development group at Bloomberg L.P., where he built U.S. and international equity and fixed-income multi-factor risk models. He was also a quantitative analyst at ING Investment Management.

Mr. Erdogan earned a Master of Science and a doctorate in operations research from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Science in industrial engineering from Middle East Technical University, Turkey. He is a CFA® charterholder
