About this event

Dance with your Baby is a special class where you can dance along with your baby (from the age 3 month) / toddler / under school age child.

Babies in carrier, older kids in hand, next to you or dancing independently, it is a children lead class, where you can have some unique bonding time together.

What are we doing at our classes?

· Using some recorded Scottish tunes, so kids can be introduced to the sound of the piano, fiddle, accordion, whole band.

· Using scarves, parachute along the dances.

· Doing some rhymes and songs, imaginative plays.

· Depending on the group, using some international music.

· Having lots of FUN.

We are offering different times and places and different ticket options, so you can choose which suits you the best.

There are no obligatory block bookings, outfits, but you can just come along as it suits (depends on availability).

My daughter was 3 months old when she joined me first at our usual evening classes. Oh, those cuddles in the carrier were just wonderful, she became so relaxed, laid against me and listened my voice from a very different perspective. Now she is turning two and it is wonderful to see how her confident is growing, dancing next to me, holding hands with other babies, helping me at the class giving out the scarves for everybody and always keeping me on my toes. She just loves the music and the movements.

For the class bring along a baby carrier that you are familiar with and your baby likes sitting in if you have a little one, for toddlers of course you don’t need it, if they are happy to dance along with you, a pair of comfy shoes (trainers are perfect, no high heels please), a friend with another baby, if you like, and your sense of humour to start your journey into the wonderful world of dancing together.

Zsofi (Sophie) leads the classes and there will be recorded music and we will make sure it is not too loud for the little ones. As I am a certified Scottish Country Dance teacher by the Royal Scottish Country Dance Society, our classes using mainly traditional Scottish dance tunes and some of the movements altered to be suitable for little ones. But we will explore different music all around the world too.

We take photos and videos at our classes for promotional reasons. Please let us know on the day if you and/or your baby don't want to be included in these.

The Community Garden is open all the time, so if you arrive early you can have a wander around, it is a lovely place, we will be there just after 4pm to open up the hut so you can get yourselves ready for the start.

Do I need any previous experience in Scottish Dancing?

Not at all, I will teach all the movements and we will take it easy and focus on the special time with your baby.
