D-Crit Virtual Info Session
Overview
What is D-Crit?
The MA Design Research, Writing & Criticism (D-Crit) program at the School of Visual Arts is a one-of-a-kind graduate degree exploring the contexts and consequences of design.
Offered in both full- and part-time formats, D-Crit combines research, writing, and critical analysis to prepare students for careers in design journalism, curating, cultural programming, and strategy.
Join Program Chair Molly Heintz and Director of Programming Eric Schwartau for an inside look at the program.
This session spotlights our SCAD connections, featuring alum Ailsa Petrie (Class of 2025) and Monica Nelson (Class of 2019) in conversation about her transition from Savannah College of Art and Design to professional practice to SVA, and how the D-Crit program shaped her writing, research, and professional practice.
All attendees receive an $80 application fee waiver when applying by January 15, 2026, plus priority scholarship consideration.
