What is D-Crit?
The MA Design Research, Writing & Criticism (D-Crit) program at the School of Visual Arts is a one-of-a-kind graduate degree exploring the contexts and consequences of design.

Offered in both full- and part-time formats, D-Crit combines research, writing, and critical analysis to prepare students for careers in design journalism, curating, cultural programming, and strategy.

Join Program Chair Molly Heintz, along with faculty and alumni, for a conversation about the program’s curriculum, community, and career outcomes.

All attendees receive an $80 application fee waiver when applying by January 15, 2026, plus priority scholarship consideration.
