The 2021 Symposium will showcase success stories of secure digital transformation to serve people equitably, sustainably and cost-beneficially.

Two innovations will be announced, which aim to move the needle in securing Smart Cities and Communities.

Organizer of Cybersecurity Symposium for Smart Cities 2021

Cybertrust America is a San José-based nationwide 501(c)(3) nonprofit that enables Secure Smart Cities by uniting professionals, governments, businesses and consumers on a single platform for shared capabilities. Cybertrust's CEO co-chairs GCTC-SC3's Cybersecurity and Privacy Advisory Committee, which has published the first ever Cybersecurity and Privacy Guidebook for smart cities initiatives with use cases.  Protected data; Happier people.

The Global City Teams Challenge (GCTC) program, aka Smart Secure Cities and Communities Challenge (SC3), is a collaborative platform for the development of smart cities and communities, led by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), a bureau of U.S. Department of Commerce, in partnership with other U.S. federal agencies including U.S. Department of Homeland Security Science and Technology Directorate (DHS S&T), National Science Foundation, International Trade Administration, and National Telecommunications and Information Administration. It enables local governments, nonprofit organizations, academic institutions, technologists, and corporations from all over the world to form project teams, or “action clusters,” and “SuperClusters,” to work on groundbreaking Internet of Things (IoT) and Cyber-Physical Systems (CPS) applications within the city and community environment. It has 200+ cities participating worldwide.

The City of San Jose is an economic, cultural, and "capital" of Silicon Valley and the 10th most populous city in the United States. San Jose is globally known as the center of innovation.  San Jose City has won the Smart City Award in Civic Engagement category by IDC Government Insights and many other awards.

The County of Santa Clara, often referred to as Silicon Valley, is internationally known for its technology achievements.  The county seat and largest city is San Jose City.  Santa Clara County is an economic center for high technology and has the third highest GDP per capita in the world.

The County of San Mateo is part of the San Francisco Bay Area. It covers most of the San Francisco Peninsula with the county seat in Redwood City. San Mateo County is an open government with an open data platform. Its Shared Vision 2025 guides the county to be Healthy and Safe, Prosperous, Livable, Environmentally Conscious, and Collaborative.

Joint Venture Silicon Valley provides analysis and action on issues affecting our region's economy and quality of life. The organization brings together established and emerging leaders—from business, government, academia, labor and the broader community—to spotlight issues and work toward innovative solutions.

City of Coral Gables is a city in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Coral Gables won first place nationwide in the 2018 Digital Cities award among cities with fewer than 75,000 residents. It is home to the University of Miami.

The National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) builds strong public/private partnerships to create and implement broad-reaching education and awareness efforts to empower users at home, work and school with the information they need to keep themselves, their organizations, their systems and their sensitive information safe and secure online and encourage a culture of cybersecurity.
