Overview

Join Arden Fitzroy for a one-man show exploring power, faith, and hypocrisy, inspired by the hottest film of 2024: Conclave. But queer(er).

A conclave is a spiritual gathering wherein the next Pope is elected. It isn’t, as Stanley Tucci puts it, a war. Per Mean Girls: all the fighting has to be invisible. Obviously!

Before a conclave, each Cardinal must undergo the sacrament of confession. We enter the confessional with Cardinal Cvntvs for the hour, as he explores questions of responsibility, doubt, and why he should totally be the next spiritual leader of over a billion people.

We definitely don’t become complicit in his plotting to take down as many of his competitors as possible, because Cvntvs’ Vatican is definitely not an endless repository of salacious queer drama, petty squabbles, and psychosexual rivalries. Nope.

This is serious shit.

CVNTCLAVE is a work-in-progress solo show written & performed by actor-theatremaker, writer-poet, fight performer, producer, and foremost Conclave scholar Arden Fitzroy. Directed by Megan Brewer.

After the show, we will have a Q&A with an opportunity to offer constructive feedback and delve deeper into the creative process.

Show runtime: 60 minutes followed by 30 minutes for Q&A
