Graduate students and postdocs are the life blood of biomedical research and are discovering the breakthroughs of tomorrow which will lead to better medicines, devices and, ultimnately, cures for human diseases. Join us for a reception with the next generation of young scientists at our reception with the UVA Biotechnology Training Program.

Dr. Gordon Laurie, Program Director, will be on hand to discuss how the program trainsexceptional scientists across disciplines. Th UVA BTP has trained 86 students since 2000. These students are also looking for 2-3 month internships with local biotech companies to gain industry experience.

The reception will be the kick-off event for the 8th Biennial Biotechnology Training Program Symposium on Friday November 9. The theme of the symposium is engineering immunotherapy – “Convincing your immune cells to work for you”. The guest speakers come from academia, regulatory authorities and industry. This is a great opportunity to hear the latest on CAR-T therapies from world renowned scientists.

At our reception, Dr. Sean Hart, CSO, Lumacyte, will give a short presentation on laser force cytology and its potential applications to CAR-T.

The BTP scientists are keen to meet and engage with local biotech and life sciences companies, so please come out for the evening!
