🌈 Curator Talk: Catherine Benjamin on Rainbow Revolutionaries
📅 Thursday, August 14, 2025 | ⏰ 7:00 PM ET | 💻 Virtual via Zoom
In partnership with the Freedom Trail® Foundation
Join The History Project for a curator talk with Freedom Trail® Foundation’s Programs Manager and Rainbow Revolutionaries Tours Curator, Catherine Benjamin, on the Freedom Trail’s first new tour in 6+ years — focused on Boston’s LGBTQ+ history!
✨ Rainbow Revolutionaries uncovers the lives, loves, and legacies of queer individuals who’ve shaped Boston for centuries. From secretive Boston Marriages and landmark political milestones to revolutionary romances and bold literary figures, this groundbreaking tour reclaims Boston’s Freedom Trail for the LGBTQ+ community — because queer people have always been here.
🧭 About the Curator
Catherine Benjamin (she/her) has over a decade of experience in historical interpretation and museum education. She began her career leading tours in Salem, interpreting the complex history of the witch trials, and went on to specialize in immersive historical experiences at the Boston Tea Party Ships & Museum. Since 2022, Catherine has served as Programs Manager at the Freedom Trail Foundation, where she oversees more than 25 tour guides and manages all specialty tours and educational programming.
She developed, researched, and authored the Foundation’s first new tour in over six years—a walking tour highlighting Boston’s LGBTQ+ history. Passionate about making history inclusive and engaging, Catherine is dedicated to amplifying underrepresented voices and connecting audiences to the diverse human stories that have shaped our collective past.
Theo Linger, board member of The History Project, will join Catherine Benjamin in conversation about the making of the tour.
