Steven J. Casey, Philanthropic Strategist • Systems Consultant • German Marshall Fund Fellow
Steven J. Casey brings over 25 years of hands-on experience in philanthropy and nonprofit leadership to this workshop. He is known for his unique blend of strategic expertise and empathy, honed through senior roles at the MacArthur Foundation and the We Mean Business Coalition. At MacArthur, he oversaw a $400 million portfolio and led key equity-driven reforms, while at We Mean Business, he managed a global climate philanthropy portfolio.
Driven by a belief that every system should serve the people within it, Steven helps leaders navigate change with clarity and purpose. He has designed and implemented large-scale initiatives in areas like trust-based philanthropy, data-informed strategy, and equity-centered capacity building. He is a recognized thought leader, a German Marshall Fund Fellow, and the co-founder of Fresh Moves Mobile Market, which brings healthy food access to under-resourced communities. Steven's facilitation style is insightful and grounded in real-world experience, helping leaders build a more just and resilient sector together.
