CTRL+click: Design For 5th-8th graders is a graphic design and motion graphics program for middle schoolers (rising 5th grade through completed 8th grade). The course is taught by B.I.G. staff alongside high school mentors who are veterans of Brookline Interactive's professional development in digital media internship. Participants will learn the principles of design, professional skills used in Adobe programs such as PhotoShop, Illustrator, Animate and AfterEffects and the ins and outs of animation. Each student will work to animate a part of the 1996 classic film, Matilda, as part of the Crowdsourced Boston project. Their work will premiere in our screening room on the last day of the workshop, as well be shown on the big screen at the Coolidge Corner Theater as part of the Crowdsourced Matilda screening in December!
CTRL+click: the 4-Day Summer Workshop will take place from 10am-4pm from August 4th -7th, 2025.
Open to all 5th-8th graders. BIG will provide snacks, however participants should bring their own lunch.
All classes, including this workshop, are free to BIG Members!
