Sonny’s Sprouts Studio Presents: Critter Creations
A Parent–Child STEAM Workshop Series Exploring the Wonders of the Bug World

At Sonny’s Sprouts Studio, we believe that creativity blossoms through curiosity, connection, and play. Our mobile art workshops are designed for adult–child pairs to engage in hands-on learning experiences that inspire wonder and joy. Each class is a chance to explore, imagine, and build something beautiful—together.

Critter Creations is one of three rotating series in our Summer Sprouts lineup. This whimsical, nature-inspired series zooms in on the tiny, fascinating world of bugs, insects, and crawly critters, offering children and their grown-ups a fresh way to explore the outdoors through the lens of STEAM—science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

In each 60-minute session, we’ll dive into a new buggy theme with creative art-making, science discoveries, and open-ended tinkering. Projects are designed to encourage both fine motor development and big-picture thinking, sparking conversation, collaboration, and creativity.

🌟 Featured Session: Glow Bug Lab!

Get ready to bring a glowing bug buddy to life! In this playful session, children and their adults will design and craft their own light-up fireflies using recycled materials and glow sticks. Along the way, we’ll explore the magical science of bioluminescence—how and why real fireflies glow in nature—and consider how nature inspires the inventions we use every day.

This project is a fun and accessible introduction to eco-friendly making and science-infused art. It’s also a chance for kids to get curious, get messy, and take pride in creating something from scratch.

Who’s It For?
This class is designed for children ages 5–9 and a participating adult. Whether you’re a parent, grandparent, or family friend, your presence helps guide the learning and makes the experience that much more special. No prior experience or materials needed—just come ready to create and explore!

  • A 60-minute guided session with STEAM-rich activities
  • Engaging storytelling and science exploration
  • All materials provided (many recycled or nature-based!)
  • A take-home project and lots of new knowledge
  • Quality time for you and your child to share in learning and fun

Join us for Critter Creations, where bugs become muses, curiosity leads the way, and memories are made with every glue stick and giggle. Let’s light up the lab—and your imaginations—together!
