About this event

Health • Personal health

Creativity Connects is a day where art and wellness meet. Different art forms such as creative writing, movement, visual art and more will be used to usher in the proven fact that art can truly be used as a healing tool. This event will be used to empower families and is designed to foster connections, share resources, and overcome challenges, all in a welcoming, fun and understanding environment. This event will provide valuable tools and opportunities to connect with others in the community who share the same interests in the emotional well being of the residents of 5th Ward. We also will have organizations present to discuss the importance of eating healthy and how the community can bring more vegan options into their homes. We will also talk with the community about how to protect themselves by using products that are friendly to the body and the environment. Mental health and physical wellness sessions will be used to open up  honest conversations that aim to see what it is the community truly needs to grow. Join us October 11th at The Kashmere Multi-Service Center from 10 am to 2 pm.

Carla Sue of Keep Houston Dope will be bringing her Jazz & Journaling session, Irene of Vibes Yoga and Pilates will be giving a yoga sessions, Dr. Deon Brown will be facilitating an activity called Rap & Relax, performances for different youth groups in the city...this event will have so much to offer for everyone in the family! There will also be tables from different community organizations present, offering resources and answering any questions that you may have about what is accessible to you for your mental, physical and emotional health.

Please note, there is a limited space for the our jazz & journaling and yoga session, so please register seperately.

We look forward to having you! See you October 11th!

This work is funded in part by The City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance. This work is also possible through various partnerships and collaborations with community partners and individuals such as PPG Global, Carla Sue of Keep Houston Dope, Healthier Nickel, Busy Body Pilates and more.
