When we're crushed and exhausted by the world, one way to build back up our reserves is to expand our notions of time and relationship. What we feel has been felt before, and we're not in this alone. What kind of creative rest can we cultivate by listening for our ancestors? These ancestors might be spiritual or familial, chosen or assigned, artistic or political. We may wish to learn from them or speak back to them. Their resonances guide and shape our lives, in meaningful and complicated ways.
This 3-hour session will begin with a poetry reading and book talk by Rabbi Mónica from her new collection Might Kindred and then will move into hands-on writing prompts, exploration of poems, and facilitated art-making experience using the Jewish Studio Process led by Rabbi Adina.
Together we'll draw on the power of the creative process to bring us into conversation and collaboration with our ancestors. Join us as we work with these unseen forces in our lives so they might support us in creating change, tending to our dreams, and building the world we seek.
The Jewish Studio Process - a unique methodology combining practices from the field of art therapy with a reimagined approach to Jewish learning and spirituality - we will process, ground, connect, and tap into the hope and possibility that creativity offers in times of challenge.
