About this event

Fostering connection, creativity, and mindfulness through art and nature.

Rick's Place is thrilled to offer Creative Expression with PeaceLove, a unique program designed to nurture self-care, introspection, and peace of mind through engaging, hands-on workshops. This program is perfect for children and their parents, offering a chance to bond while exploring creative outlets in a serene outdoor setting.

Creative Calisthenics, the key learning point to this expressive arts PeaceLove workshop is acceptance. By following specific directions, participants create art by exploring the collaborative process, learning to let go, and accepting change. The emphasis of this workshop is leaving our comfort zones and exploring different ways of communicating with each other. It explores learning to accept something we might not want and turn it into something we are happy to have. Participants reflect on what they want more of in their lives, connect with those in the workshop, and actively engage in the process of creating intuitive art without giving in to self-criticism.

Each session features a different artistic experience:

  • Transformation Collage: Explore change and transform thoughts or behaviors into positive new paths through collage.
  • Story Shoes: Walk a mile in their boots! Participants use retired combat boots to decorate, sharing their personal journey through three-dimensional art.
  • Dual Emotions: Dive into the relationship between two emotions you've experienced and express them through art.
  • Rhythm and Color: Combine music and art by playing instruments or objects to create rhythm, then translate that energy into visual art.
  • Creative Calisthenics: Engage in collaborative exercises that inspire adaptability, creativity, and teamwork.
  • Gratitude Garden: Create a symbolic garden to express thankfulness, grounding yourself in moments of peace and joy.
  • Creative Creatures: Build unique creatures from recycled materials, reminding us that expressing emotions is not only okay—it’s essential!

Each workshop takes place on the scenic Rick’s Place property, harnessing the calming power of nature to inspire creativity.
