About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

In this event CN Lester - artistic freelancer and trans researcher, educator and activist - covers the ways in which all freelancers - cis and trans - can work towards true trans equality across the artistic sector. Rooted in lived experience, community knowledge and academic research, this is a practical session designed to provide the tools and the knowledge we need to create and grow fairer creative industries and practices.

This session will be a talk followed by a Q&A, and we invite cis and trans freelancers to attend.

CN Lester is a multi-genre musician, author of the critically-acclaimed Trans Like Me, and founder and artistic director of the groundbreaking arts event Transpose at Barbican. CN is both a classical singer (“Captivating, hypnotic” – Opera), improviser/deviser (“a truly-affecting performance” – OperaWire), and composer (“both beautiful and humbling” – Sabotage Reviews), and alternative piano-based singer-songwriter (“Atmospheric, emotional music” – The Advocate).

There will be an opportunity to ask questions anonymously before the session.
