About this event
Join Jessica Sirias, local Bay Area mom, mental health therapist, infant mental health specialist, certified infant massage instructor, and founder of Nurture and Bloom for a special 2 hour experiential workshop (breaks included throughout the class) focused on strengthening the bond between you and your little one through infant massage. This interactive workshop is designed to help you feel confident in identifying and understanding your baby's cues and supporting parent-child attachment that will have lifelong benefits to your child's overall well-being. You will walk away with this class having learned full body massage strokes to bond with your baby and an opportunity to connect with other parents in the community.
Price is per family so partners and other caregivers are welcome to join! This is a baby-led class so feeding, changing, and or soothing your baby is welcome and encouraged!
You will learn:
- What attachment is and the importance of creating a secure attachment with your baby
- How to support parent-child attachment using infant massage
- How to identify you baby's non-verbal cues and when they are engaged and disengaged with you in real time
- Benefits of infant massage
- Full body infant massage strokes including strokes to support sleep, nervous system, sensory integration and ease colic, digestion, tension from birth, and vaccination site soreness
- How to integrate infant massage into your daily routine
Materials needed: Baby blanket and massage oil. Massage oil options you can purchase are coconut, grapeseed, or olive oil. You can also use lotion if you prefer. If you'd like your baby to have additional support during the class, you can use two adult size bed pillows or an infant lounger.
When to take this class: We recommend taking this class after the birth of your baby. Ideal for babies, birth to pre-crawling.
While families with mobile babies are more than welcome to join, please note that some families have trouble massaging their babies that prefer to explore and move around. Please use your judgment if you think you think your baby will be willing to get massaged during the class.
Class Fee: Sliding scale tiered pricing ranging from $30-$55
Location: Online via Zoom. Participants will be sent Zoom link by email a few days prior to the event. Email will be sent to the email address you used to register for the event.
Date & Time: Tuesday, October 28 at 10 am-11:30 am
Facilitator: This class is facilitated by Jessica Sirias, local Bay Area mom, mental health therapist, infant mental health specialist, certified infant massage instructor, and founder of Nurture and Bloom.
Additional information: We will not be massaging our babies for 2 hours! This class is designed with you in mind, whether you arrive late, you need to take a break, or your baby ends up sleeping. We have all been there! Feeding, changing, and or soothing your baby is welcome and encouraged!
We will take breaks during our time together and to create a sense of community in this tender season, we will have an opportunity to share resources and discuss our early parenting and postpartum experiences.
