About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

Winning messaging is clear, compelling and, most importantly, brief. Your message needs to turn heads. It needs to be unforgettable — even when conveying the complex.

During this workshop, participants will work 1:1 with M. Harris & Co. partners on the foundation of their messaging. Experts include Jane Hirt, the former managing editor of the Chicago Tribune; Mark Jacob, the former associate managing editor for metro news for the Chicago Tribune; Jara Kern, who led marketing for Roosevelt University; and M. Harris & Co. CEO Melissa Harris, the co-author of the book Everybody Needs an Editor and an adjunct professor of entrepreneurship at Chicago Booth.

This team works with leading organizations including Purdue University’s Office of Research; the Rocky Mountain Institute; the EFI Foundation; Current, Chicago’s water innovation incubator and more — with the goal of explaining complex science to the public and policymakers.

Participants will walk away with a better understanding of the messaging process and a collaboratively created positioning statement. Open to a maximum of 40 participants.
