Creating Outside the Lines: A Writing Workshop
Led by author Laura Kepner
This will begin January 6, 2026 and continue weekly, 13, 20, 27 from 10:00 to noon.
This four-week class is for any adult who has a story tugging at their sleeve—whether you’re just starting or dusting off a half-finished draft. In a relaxed, supportive setting, we’ll play with the building blocks of story: characters and the problems they face, the plots that push them forward, and the choices they make along the way. You’ll get gentle but honest feedback, plenty of encouragement, and short, low-pressure exercises to help you discover what you really want to say.
Each week we’ll layer on another piece of craft: how voice and point of view shape a story, why dialogue and character flaws matter, how setting and mood can quietly do a lot of heavy lifting, and finally, how to survive the messy middle and land a truly satisfying ending. Expect lots of sharing, laughter, “ohhh” moments, and practical tools you can use right away. By the end of week four, you’ll walk out with clearer pages, a stronger sense of your story, and the confidence to keep going, whether that means beginning at last or finally finishing what you started.
