Public Health – Dayton & Montgomery County invites you to participate in one of our three upcoming community conversations. We're looking for your valuable input and concerns regarding strategies for Healthy Eating and Active Living in our community.
These initiatives are supported by the Ohio Department of Health's Creating Healthy Communities grant, which provides funding to improve residents' health outcomes through various healthy eating and active lifestyle strategies.
During these sessions, we'll focus on specific strategies, including:
Healthy Eating:
- Community Gardens
- Classroom gardens
- Community gardens
Food Banks/Pantries
- Cooking Classes at a West Side Pantry
- Health Base cooking demonstrations at a west side library
- Culinary training program that promotes food access, nutrition, and kitchen skills.
- Food Service Guidelines (FSG) – signage in local west side pantries to promote healthy choices.
Active Living
- Parks/Playgrounds
- Fencing for safety
- Fenced dog park with benches
- Shade structures
- Workout areas
- Resurfacing existing courts or paths
- Sharp Containers place in parks.
- Multi Use Trails
- Rest stations (benches) along walking paths or trails
