Creating Connections When Working Remotely

Remote, Not Removed: Building Trust & Connection in Virtual Working Relationships

Thursday 16 October, 6–8:30pm (Arrive from 5:30pm for a 6pm start)

This free workshop is organised by Withington Works and is open to all, regardless of profession. Everyone is welcome to come along - no matter your job, or whether you are employed or work for yourself.

Led by independent trainer, facilitator and coach Kim Taylor, this workshop is aimed at people who work with others remotely.

Whether you're leading or part of a remote team, managing client relationships, working with suppliers or collaborating across time zones, this informal workshop dives into the essentials of working well together—virtually.

Explore how to build trust, align on shared goals, and create a team charter that keeps everyone on the same page. Ideal for people managing or being manged remotely or navigating complex virtual partnerships.

A friendly, informal, practical session full of takeaways. There will be plenty of opportunity to share your own experience and insights and ask questions too.

This will take place in the upstairs room at Withington Public Hall Institute, 2 Burton Rd, Withington, Manchester M20 3ED, info and directions here - https://g.co/kgs/UK62wE7

The room is only accessible by a set of stairs so unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible. If this will prevent you from being able to attend please get in touch and we can review whether we are able to find a suitable alternative venue - info@withingtonworks.com

Nibbles provided - vegetarian and vegan dietary requirements will be catered for. If you have any other dietary requirements or allergies please let us know.

Water will be available but feel free to grab a drink from the bar in the room on the left when you arrive.

Support these events

This event has been organised by Withington Works. We have received funding from the UK Government to support our co-working spaces and events, which is supporting us to expand our co-working space into Withington Public Hall Institute (WPHI) and also helps us to put on these events for free.

As part of this we need to provide our funders with information about the people we have helped through our services and workshops. Because of this, at this event we will ask you to fill out some optional forms that we will use as evidence of the demand for the workshops and support we are offering. There is no requirement to fill in the forms to attend this workshop, and you can choose not to complete them. However if you would be happy to fill them out at the event we would be incredibly grateful.

The information we will need from you includes your NI number (if you are not registered with HMRC as a business owner or sole trader) or your Companies House / UTR number (if you have registered a company at Companies House or are self-employed/sole trader registered with HMRC). If you are happy to support us with showing that we are achieving our outcomes for this project, please bring this with you to the workshop.

About Me

I set myself up as an independent trainer, facilitator and coach at the start of 2025 and specialise in leadership and communication skills. I've been working in learning and development both in-house and as an external provider for over 10 years and I love the variety that comes with supporting people from all backgrounds. Prior to moving into learning and development, I worked as a business improvement manager, gaining significant experience in a customer service environment and I've been working in remote teams in a national and international setting since 2008.

One size doesn't fit all when it comes to leadership and communication - I will share some of the best research and resources out there, as well as my own experience and help you to apply it to your context, in your own unique way.

What I Do

I offer a range of leadership development workshops that can be delivered in person or virtually and am comfortable using my own resources or materials provided by your organisation. My specialisms cover three main areas:

  • Self-discovery
  • Leading teams
  • Leading change.

I am also able to design bespoke workshops for your organisation if required.

Who I Work With

My leadership development workshops are best suited to leaders with less than 5 years’ experience of leading people, either as a team manager or an individual contributor leading projects and leaders who want to update their skills to reflect today’s workforce. I have experience of working in and with large organisations in Consultancy, Telecoms, Banking, Retail, Leisure and Hospitality, the public sector including the NHS, Education and local councils, Charities and start-ups.
