Please join National University in partnership with the San Diego Workforce Partnership’s Center for Local Income Mobility (CLIMB) for the fourth talk in the Precision Education Distinguished Speakers Series, featuring award- winning Stanford economist Raj Chetty, Ph.D. Chetty studies some of the core issues of American society—equality, education, and government policy—through the powerful lens of economics. A recent winner of the John Bates Clark Medal for Best American Economist Under 40, Chetty has received a MacArthur “Genius” Fellowship.

Chetty’s research combines empirical evidence and economic theory to design effective government policies. His work on tax policy, unemployment insurance, and education has been widely cited in media outlets and Congressional testimony. His current research concentrates on income mobility, inequality and opportunity in relationship to the effects determined by place of birth, early childhood factors, and performance in school. By employing novel analytical techniques and large longitudinal data sets, his research points to important conditions and opportunities that San Diego can provide for families to maximize the odds of income mobility and creating a vibrant, inclusive local economy.
