Creating accessible learning materials - Part 1 & Part 2

To support UAL’s commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment, we have two sessions to support you to create learning materials that all students can access.

You are welcome to sign up for both, or just one session depending on your needs.

Registration for each sessions closes on 4pm the previous business day

Part 1: Designing Word and PowerPoint documents for everyone (Mon 13 Oct, 12-1.15pm)

We will look at Word and PowerPoint and show you the fundamentals of accessible design, including; formatting, heading structure, alternative text and use of images, reading order and using the built-in accessibility assistants.

Registration for this session closes at 4pm Friday 10 October.

• K4 appropriate use of digital and/or other technologies, and resources for learning

Part 2: Ensuring your PDFs are accessible (Mon 20 Oct, 12-1pm)

Following on from Part 1, if you decide to convert your documents to a PDF, we will show you how to do a final check in Adobe Acrobat pro to ensure your documents are fully accessible before you upload them to Moodle.

Registration for this session closes at 4pm Friday 17 October.

Who should attend?

Any interested UAL colleague who may use Microsoft Word, Powerpoint or PDFs to support learning, teaching, and assessment in your role.

Registration Instructions

Please only register for yourself, if you wish to share with others please refer them to the event listing. Only some of our events are open to students and / or people from outside UAL. Please check the 'Who Should Attend' section above to make sure you are eligible.

Event booking confirmation and reminders

We will also send you an Outlook calendar invite with the Teams joining link.

Cancellation

If you can no longer attend this event we’d appreciate it if you could cancel your place within the booking system. This gives others the opportunity to take your space.

We reserve the right to cancel this event if we do not get enough numbers, or due to other circumstances outside of our control. You will be notified via email if this happens.
