Join leading adolescent Clinical Psychologist Dr. Hayley Watson, as she helps you create a personalized step-by-step plan for implementing substance use prevention skills in your home. Dr. Watson will focus on specific steps you can take to ensure that you and your family are supported as you teach substance use prevention skills to your child and youth. Presentation Overview:

This presentation will focus on providing parents, guardians, and caregivers with an action plan that will enable them to effectively implement substance use prevention strategies in the home. You will learn the specific steps needed to create a home environment where both you and your child and youth are supported. This session will answer the question: “How can I teach my child and youth substance use prevention strategies in the most effective way?”

This presentation is for all parents, caregivers, guardians, and adults who care for children and adolescents of all ages. You will walk away with a clear action plan that you can implement immediately, tailored to your unique circumstances. This plan will assist you in teaching the children in your care the skills they need to thrive and make healthy decisions about substances, keeping the well-being of your whole family at the forefront.

Bonus Online Substance Use Prevention & Mental Health Modules for Parents, Caregivers & Guardians

All attendees will be provided with free access to two online Modules created specifically for parents, guardians and caregivers that focus on substance use prevention and boosting the mental health of your child and youth. These online resources provide you with simple and effective exercises to complete on your own or with your child and youth in order to boost your child and youth's ability to make positive choices about substances and their own well-being. These resources are presented as a series of videos and slides and can be accessed from any online device. These modules will further your learning from the live session and help you practice the techniques that will assist your child and youth in making healthy choices about substances.


About the Presenter:

Dr. Hayley Watson is a registered Clinical Psychologist from BC (registered in Australia and New York, USA), specializing in children and adolescents with a PhD in school bullying interventions, along with four further academic degrees in the mental health field. She has been creating and delivering youth and school-based programs globally for the past 20 years. She has worked across various sectors, including police victim services, non-profit organizations, private psychology practices, hospitals, schools, and universities. Dr. Watson trains parents and educators worldwide on holistic well-being practices and is the founder of Open Parachute, a video-based school mental health program using documentary stories of real students sharing their experiences of overcoming struggle as a platform for reducing stigma and building resilience. Open Parachute is being delivered in schools across Canada, the US, and Australia.
