The Pittsburgh Chapters of PDMA and ProductTank are teaming up for a special free workshop - Crash Course: Human-Computer Interaction for Product Managers - featuring Brad Eiben, Executive Director of the MS in Product Management program at CMU.
Many Product Managers (PMs) come from technical backgrounds and have developed self-limiting beliefs that creativity is outside of their comfort zone. During this free workshop, we'll aim to fix that and will provide you with some tools to foster a process of creativity.
Nearly all PMs understand that design thinking and usability are important in their products’ performance. Many, however, are either self-trained or have never had exposure to formal training. We’ll review simple, effective, and (hopefully) fun techniques taught in CMU’s HCI (Human Computer Interaction) for Product Managers course. Think of this as a greatest hits compilation.
This workshop is designed to introduce processes and techniques for those without strong design backgrounds. It will also be a solid refresher of basics for experienced PMs.
In an effort to ensure we’re solving the right problem, we will cover some effective and interactive techniques you can immediately implement with your team:
- Discovery techniques
- Stakeholder mapping
- Ideation techniques
- Design heuristics
- Rapid design techniques
BONUS: the CMU MSPM program is not only providing the venue for this event, but they are also generously sponsoring food and drink for attendees!
Schedule:
- 6:00-6:30 - arrival and networking
- 6:30 - interactive session begins
Don't miss out on this great evening of human-computer interaction AND human-human interaction.
