Is this a clean show?

No. We don't place restrictions on what can be said on stage. However, we will not tolerate harassment or hate speech from the comedians that perform.

Question 2

Where should I park?

Street parking is free after 6pm. If there isn't street parking in front of the bar, going 1 block down the road towards Campbell Law School you can typically find a spot. Last resort there is a paid lot next to the bar.

Can we order food?

Yes. We have a server in the back room that can bring you anything they'd get you in the front room.

Can we order drinks?

Yes. We have a sever in the back room that can bring you anything they'd get you in the front room. Especially nice on Mondays with $5 Drafts and wines.

How can I perform?

Get a performer ticket! Every Sunday we select 15 performers. Selected performers will be notified if they made the list at 10pm . Even if you don't make the initial list, we'll have 5 bucket pulls.

How are performers selected?

We try to curate a good mix of Raleigh OGs, first-timers, visiting dignitaries, and most importantly Saucer Regulars. We can't put everyone up every week but we prioritize funny folks working hard to improve and write new material.

How are panelists selected?

Accepted Answer

We select from 3 groups of people. Most times, people fit more than 1 category. 1) Funny People - Raleigh OGs, Visiting Dignitaries, Up and Coming Stars  2) Friends - It's always more fun with friends 3) Producers/Bookers - we have funny regulars. We like to show them off.

What is 'New Material'?

We want to see what you're working on. Keeping it fresh is exciting for the audience and makes it easier for our panel to riff with you. If we've heard it more than 3 times at Flying Saucer, it's probably time to try something new. It'll definitely make us more likely to book you.

Question 9

I haven't been on the list in a while. Why is that?

We get a lot of sign ups. We try our best to be fair and rotate comics through. That said, we have a low bar for problematic or disruptive behavior. If you're regularly walking the audience or we receive complaints from patrons or staff, we're unlikely to put you on the list.

Question 10

Can Musicians Perform?

Accepted Answer

This is a comedy mic. If you are a comedy musician you are more than welcome, however, we do not provide instruments or hookups. Any time spent setting up will count against your allotted 3 minutes.

How Long Do Performers Get?

Accepted Answer

3 Minutes. There is a countdown visible from the stage to let you know how much time is left.

Question 12

I was selected for the lineup. Can I know when I go up before I get there?

Accepted Answer

Nope. To encourage comics to stick around and watch other comics sets, we won't tell you when you're going up until you get here. If you miss your spot, we'll do a bucket pull instead.
