Description
For two nights at the Flex Theater in the Schwartz Center for the Performing Arts, Chris Hoff and Sam Harnett of The World According to Sound will be performing a live audio show that represents Cornell University entirely through sound.
Chris and Sam have spent all semester recording sounds on and around campus, digging through archives, and listening to tons of research at Cornell connected to the auditory world. And now they’re going to share everything they’ve discovered in an hour-long, surround sound, live audio show. They'll set up a ring of powerful speakers, pass out eye masks, shut off the lights, and surround you with sound; they'll transport you into the gears of a 19th-century Reuleaux machine, through a particle accelerator, alongside the skates of a hockey player, and into the stomach of a cow. It will be the Cornell you know as you’ve never heard it before.
Pre-show events will include pop-up kiosks/signs/listening stations across campus at locations where the team has captured sound to increase awareness about the role and impact of sound in our lives.
This is the third in a series of “Arts Unplugged” events sponsored by the College of Arts & Sciences and open to the public.
Tickets are free, but space is limited, so reserve your seat now. If the show is sold out, hop on the waitlist. We expect to be able to release some tickets the day of the show.
