Core and Ornamental & Turf License Review

This is a REVIEW-ONLY class. As of October 1, 2025, UF/IFAS Extension no longer is offering pesticide exams. Exam registration will need to take place through FDACS.

Pesticide licensing in Florida can be confusing, and it may be difficult to determine which license/certification you need and how to obtain it. Read more about the Ornamental & Turf license to make sure it applies to you.

The O&T certification is for professionals who apply pesticides to lawns and ornamentals in parks, golf courses, athletic fields, and cemeteries. To obtain this license, pesticide applicators must pass both the Core General Standards Exam and the Ornamental and Turfgrass category exam.

O&T License

This class provides a review to prepare for both the Core and O&T exams and provides CEUs to existing license-holders.

This review will cover the following:

To prepare for the exam, I highly recommend studying the following manuals prior to attending the class and taking the exam:

Core Manual: : Applying Pesticides Correctly (SM-1)

O&T Manual: Applying Pesticides Correctly (SM-1) and Ornamental and Turfgrass Pest Management (SM- 7)

Approved for the following CEUs: 2 Core + 2 from the following categories: O&T, LCLM, LLO, L&O, 4 MAXIMUM

Time: 8:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. Registration/check-in: 8:00 - 8:15 a.m. Light breakfast and coffee are provided. Lunch will require an additional ticket. You are also welcome to bring your own at no cost.

Lunch: This program includes time for lunch. If you would like to receive a boxed lunch, please purchase an additional meal ticket.

Cost: $20.00 per person per ticket; $40.00 for both tickets (excluding additional Eventbrite fees), free for verified Sarasota County employees

Advance registration is required. You may buy your tickets online or register to pay at the door. Make sure to purchase BOTH tickets if you are interested in attending for the entire day.
