Experience Historic Washington, Louisiana
Join us for a remarkable weekend in Washington, Louisiana—Louisiana’s third-oldest settlement—celebrating the town’s storied past, architectural treasures, and ongoing preservation efforts.
From Friday, October 17 through Sunday, October 19, guests will enjoy a curated program of receptions, walking tours, and private house visits highlighting Washington’s National Historic District. Highlights include the newly restored Hotel Klaus (ca. 1870), the Jacob Bogard House (ca. 1837), the Nathaniel Offutt House (ca. 1840), and the Francois Marchand House and Eagle Hotel (ca. 1826). Saturday’s events feature a walking tour led by preservation advocate Hallie Coreil, with a picnic lunch at the storied Magnolia Ridge Plantation (ca. 1790/1832), followed by cocktails and dinner at the home of preservationist Beth James.
Sunday offers a tour of Serenity (ca. 1790) and a porch tour of mid-19th-century homes, concluding with a Dutch treat lunch at the historic Steamboat Warehouse Restaurant (ca. 1829).
Along the way, participants will hear from architect Stephen Ortego, AIA, and local leaders on the vital work of preservation and adaptive reuse in revitalizing Washington’s heritage.
This immersive weekend not only opens the doors to some of Louisiana’s most historically and architecturally significant properties but also celebrates the dedicated individuals ensuring their survival for generations to come.
