The stakes on the outcomes of COP26 in Glasgow are higher than ever. Since the last COP in 2019, the International Energy Agency has released a report advising that all new fossil fuel exploration should end entirely by 2022 in order to keep warming under 1.5 degrees Celsius (2.7 F). Furthermore, in August, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change released the highly anticipated AR6 Working Group 1 report outlining the dramatic changes the planet has already endured and the severity of the climatic changes ahead if immediate action is not taken. The global conversation and atmosphere around climate change are arguably more intense than ever.
