Event description
Back by popular demand, the Courtenay Elementary Community School Society is offering an encore presentation of this waste workshop.

About this Event

How much trash do you think a typical person creates in a day? How about in a school? Do you separate and recycle? Did you know that there are certain types of plastics that can and cannot be picked up via Courtenay’s curbside pickup program?

Despite our best efforts, we seem to be generating more trash than ever. You know that it’s important to do your part to reduce, reuse and recycle, but did you know of the project underway at our landfill as part of the Comox Strathcona solid waste management plan?

We need to be mindful of what we put in the trash and in the landfill. Learn how you can reduce what you throw in the trash and what is happening at our landfill with Tina Willard-Stepan, an environmental educator with the Comox Strathcona Waste Management. Tina will show you how to reduce how much trash you throw out, and also show you how to prepare a delicious “unpackaged” snack for your child’s lunch.

Enjoy pizza and refreshments while learning about waste management in the Comox Valley. Bring your own reusable container to take your snack home!

This event is for families with children age 5 and up.

Spaces are limited to 15 participants.
