Join us for an evening with Dr. Nader Hashemi and Professor Badar Khan Suri at Busboys and Poets (14th & V) on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.

In this timely conversation, Professor Suri—recently released after facing politically motivated detention and deportation threats under the Trump administration—will share reflections on his experience and what it reveals about the state of civil liberties, immigration, and academic freedom in the U.S.

He’ll be joined by Dr. Nader Hashemi, Director of the Alwaleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding at Georgetown University, whose scholarship explores democracy, human rights, and political change in the Middle East.

Free and open to all. Early arrival encouraged.

Nader Hashemi is the Director of the Alwaleed Center for Muslim-Christian Understanding and an Associate Professor of Middle East and Islamic Politics at the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University
