Join us Saturday, June 28 for the opening of the artist, Zack Spechler's exhibition, Constructing Our Future at Gaper Arts Center.
Exploring themes of collecting memories through fabricated works, guests will enjoy a catered edible art installation inspired by food cooked by the artist's friends, family, and favorite restaurants growing up in South Florida. The public will then be invited to share stories of their favorite dishes, where they ate them, and who prepared them growing up. These reflections will be turned into AI-generated memories which will be used to create DIY t-shite/paraphernalia that will be included in the exhibition.
Artist Marilyn Loddi, a Miami-based multidisciplinary artist, will present a site-specific intervention during the event, exploring the cultural and psychological weight of food through ephemeral sculpture, performance, and documentation, reimagining consumption as a vehicle for memory and identity.
