I'm Damara. A Christian Intuitive Eating Coach. That means that I help Christians heal their relationship with their food, body and exercise. In large part this looks like healing from the diet mentality and building resilience to Diet Culture I do this through Intuitive Eating Coaching, teaching and providing resources. My Anti-Diet, weight inclusive, anti-stigma approach is rooted in Scripture and backed by research.
Intuitive Eating is an Anti-Diet way of relating to our food, body and exercise. It encourages people to have a relaxed, personal and peaceful relationship with their food, body and exercise by reconnecting with their bodies and emotions and make food choices based on inner attunement - hunger and satisfaction cues. This is in contrast to the more common Diet Framework which expects people to make food and exercise choices based on external Diet Culture rules. These rules claim to lead people in the pursuit of thinness and therefore health, but which actually foster weight stigma and cause mental, emotional, relational and physical harm.
Another big way that I help people from is by helping Mental Health Professionals become safer, more effective, supports for their clients who struggle in their relationship with their food, body and exercise. I believe Mental Health Professionals are perfectly positioned to be safe harbors and well-informed champions for their clients who struggle in these areas.
