About Conservation Conversations
The Escondido Creek Conservancy partners with Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve to put on Conservation Conversations, a quarterly lecture series where speakers are invited from across San Diego County to share their knowledge about local conservation topics and issues with the community. Lectures occur in January, April, July, and October on the 3rd Thursday from 6pm-7pm.
Topics range from coexisting with coyotes, to stargazing, to herpetology, to native plants, and more! We hope you can join us! Conservation Conversations take place at the Interpretive Center at Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve.
The Interpretive Center at Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve
The Elfin Forest Interpretive Center Honoring Susan J. Varty is a place for visitors to connect with the Escondido Creek watershed and the diverse landscapes of the Elfin Forest Recreational Reserve. Designed by local artist James Hubbell, the center opened in 2009 through a partnership between the Escondido Creek Conservancy and the Olivenhain Municipal Water District. This collaboration brings conservation and education together, fostering a deeper appreciation for our region’s natural spaces.
The Interpretive Center gives a voice to the Escondido Creek watershed, inspiring visitors to feel connected to nature, value open space and the creek, and join in conserving this precious North County resource through personal and community stewardship.
