Did you know?

Conservation Florida is working to add additional conservation protections to more than 31,000 acres of natural areas in Palm Beach County — including Loxahatchee Slough! Learn more here!

Event Details:

Meet at the north side of the C-18W canal where it intersects with Beeline Highway. We’ll consolidate into as few cars as possible there and drive into the site.

What to Expect:

We will explore a stunning section of the Ocean-to-Lake Hiking Trail in the Loxahatchee Slough Natural Area. Meeting at canal gate on Beeline Highway, we will carpool to the site and begin a 3.5-mile loop. The first half traverses diverse ecosystems, including marshes, cypress swamps, and oak hammocks, rich in history and wildlife. The second half follows a stable canal bank.

Please note, peak wet season conditions mean sections of the trail may be muddy, uneven, and feature water up to knee or waist level in some areas. Despite these challenges, this trail offers an exceptional and rewarding experience.

What to Bring:

Dress appropriately for muddy conditions, with closed-toe shoes and water boots if possible. We suggest weairing long pants and long sleeves to protect against the sun and insects (or bring bug spray). Remember to bring your reusable water bottle and any snacks you may want. Due to the potential to get muddy, packing a towel and a change of clothes could be useful for the drive home.

Don't miss this opportunity to connect with the conservation of our beautiful natural areas.
