Conscious Discipline - Assertiveness / Attention
Overview
This session focuses on two key powers of Conscious Discipline—Assertiveness and Attention—that help educators set clear limits and build positive connections with children through intentional focus and communication.
Assertiveness is the ability to clearly and respectfully communicate expectations without using threats, fear, or aggression. Participants will learn how to use a calm, confident tone, direct language, and supportive body posture to set boundaries that guide children toward success while maintaining trust and safety.
Attention emphasizes the power of focus—what we give our attention to, we encourage to grow. Educators will explore strategies for intentionally noticing positive behaviors, reinforcing connection, and shifting focus from what we don’t want to what we do want to see.
