Abstract: By definition, a scalable architecture means seamlessly handing data even when it is produced chaotically. Such systems can asynchronously process events while also expressing themselves when they feel burdened via backpressure. This hands-on presentation will focus on the Reactive Streams Specification and how it was materialized in the Java world by Project Reactor. Let’s have a look at how things like Mono/Flux, Subscription and Consumer can come together to enable tens-of-millions-of-events-per-second services.

Abstract: Implementing standard servlet-based applications is comfortable, but do they provide also the most efficient solution? Sometimes, a non-reactive implementation is what we need, but today, we need to take into consideration more and more using a reactive approach. Join our discussion for an excellent hands-on experience in building reactive applications with Spring WebFlux. You will learn when and why to use a reactive approach, the basics of Reactive Spring, and how to build a route to a database reactive app with Spring.

Abstract: For a long time, support for consuming reactive APIs has been somewhat scarce in the web browsers, but things are beginning to look up. We will explore some interfaces supporting the consumption of Server-Sent Events while trying to understand the challenges that we face. By building a small example in Angular, we will observe the difference between client-pull and server-push communication approaches.
