About this event

Community • Heritage

Maryland Humanities is proud to partner with the Maryland State Archives for this educational workshop on how to use the MSA to look into your own family story.

In the same spirit as Carole Boston Weatherford researched her family story to write the 2025 One Maryland One Book Kin: Rooted in Hope, we invite all Marylanders to do the same. Learn how to go inside the collections, explore different materials, and connect them to your own history.

The workshop will have 1.5 hours of training and presentation. This is a free, hybrid event with limited in-person seating. To ensure we have seats, we ask you to choose only one ticket of either in-person or virtual.

All participants can view the virtual presentation online. Afterward, people attending in person will have a chance to use the digitized records online at the Archives in Annapolis with assistance from our professional archivists

Presentations by:

  • Rachel Frazier, Director of Reference Services
  • Danielle Smith, Reference Archivist
  • Chris Haley, Director of Research, Education and Outreach

This event is presented in partnership between Maryland State Archives and One Maryland One Book, a program of Maryland Humanities. One Maryland One Book is sponsored by the Institute for Museum and Library Services and the Maryland State Library Agency.
