Join us for the opening installment of our Connecting with Cotton series for a collective experience of connecting with cotton through sensory based exploration, reflective storytelling, and agricultural skill sharing.
During our time together attendees will have space to (re)connect with and deepen their relationship to cotton via hands-on activities and plant stewardship demos (+ get seeds & mature seedlings to take home).

Connecting with Cotton is a collaborative series by Deep Routes and Mumbet’s Freedom Farm via CURE. Part 2 will occur in Brooklyn NY on September 27th, 2025.
CURE (Cultivating Understanding and Restoring the Earth) is a Mumbet’s Freedom Farm series intending to nourish and center the experiences of those who identify as Black, Indigenous, and anyone with an inherited history of colonization in the Americas.
🌿Please NOTE: Although all of Deep Routes’ events center those within Afro-Indigenous diasporas, cotton is one with a particularly painful (relatively recent) history and we want this opening session to be a safer space for people of Black/African and Indigenous diasporas to engage with it. That said, if you’re a white/European descent person we ask that you abstain from attending this time around. Thank for understanding. 🌿

This session does not have a sponsor/grant/institutional partnership so when you register there is an option to donate. Donations (literally any amount) directly supports our cost for materials and supplies to offer a well resourced session!
We thank you deeply in advance for any investments poured into this space we’ll be sharing.
