Discover the freedom of movement, enhance your stage presence, and unlock new realms of creative expression in this unique 2-hour contact improvisation workshop. Whether you're a performer looking to expand your physical vocabulary or simply curious about exploring movement-based improvisation, this workshop offers a welcoming introduction to the art of contact improvisation.
This class invites you to deepen your embodied awareness and relational responsiveness through the lens of contact improvisation. Building on solo movement exploration and shared movement, we'll expand your capacity to listen through touch, weight, and shared momentum. Whether rolling, leaning, or pausing in stillness, we’ll practice attuning to the moment-to-moment composition of moving with others. We'll be cultivating trust, adaptability, and presence.
With an emphasis on play, sensation, and discovery, this class bridges principles of physical theater and contact improvisation. We'll explore how movement scores, spontaneous partnering, and ensemble-based tasks can support fuller expression, co-creation, and risk-taking in both body and imagination. All bodies and experience levels are welcome. Come prepared to move, connect, and be surprised by what emerges in the spaces between.
