Event description

Description

Please join The Piedmont Environmental Council and the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission as we begin a series of community conversations about ways for the Charlottesville and Albemarle to develop a bicycle and pedestrian system in the urban core that links together places where people live, work, shop, and play. We have invited two guests to share their share experiences, inspirations and lessons learned.

Speakers

Chuck Flink, one of the nation’s leading designers of greenway systems, will talk about the community benefits of greenways and provide concrete examples of successful approaches. He has worked with more than 250 communities around the United States and internationally. He is the founder, owner and President of Greenways Inc, a consulting firm located in Durham, North Carolina and co-author of the book, Greenways: A Guide to Planning, Design and Development. Chuck’s Bio >>

Max Hepp-Buchanan, director of Bike Walk RVA (in Richmond), will give a local perspective, with special focus on their approach to bringing grassroots and government together around a shared vision and successful implementation. Max’s Bio >>
