Join the Master Gardeners of Riverside for an informative workshop all about composting.

What: Composting 101

Where: Louis Robidoux Parkland and Pecan Grove

When: Saturday, June 28, 2025 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM

Introduction + Workshop: 10 am - 11 am

Open for Questions: 11 am - 11:30 am

Survey, Giveaways, Partner Resource Booths: 11:30 am- 12 pm

The workshop will cover:

• How to start composting at home

• What belongs in your compost and what doesn’t

• Easy fixes for common composting problems

• Resources and expert tips to take with you

Join us for an engaging community workshop led by a certified Master Gardener! We'll begin with a brief introduction, followed by an informative presentation on the featured gardening topic. After the main session, there will be time for an open Q&A where attendees can ask questions and share their experiences.

During the final half hour, you're invited to visit our partner resource booths, complete a short post-workshop survey, and enjoy light community engagement. Attendees will also have a chance to go home with some fun giveaways—available while supplies last!

Come learn, connect, and grow with us!

Check in with staff upon arrival to recieve a countertop composting bin. Supplies are limited and are first come first serve.

No RSVP is required to attend!

How often do workshops take place?

Workshops usually take place on a Saturday. Please check our events calendar with more up to date information on the most current events to take place.

Do I need an RSVP to attend a workshop?

No, you do not need an RSVP to attend the workshops. Workshops are open to the public and family friendly.

Where do these workshops take place?

Workshops take place at LRPPG on site. Once you arrive on site and park in the gravel parking lot, go straight towards the Caretakers Residence and you will come across our tent set up. Please be on the lookout for a table with an IERCD staff member, ready to check you in.

What should I wear?

Workshops take place in an outdoor setting, so we ask that you dress prepared. Please bring closed toe shoes, a sunhat, and a refillable water bottle. We will have ice cold water available.
